Valero Energy Corp. on Wednesday (VLO) reported an operational disruption and above-normal gas emissions at its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas.

"Process upset caused 74TK35 [propane tank] to vent to the flare," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Pressure was relieved to flare until normal operating pressure was achieved."

It said the emissions, including some 897 pounds of sulfur dioxide, happened Tuesday and lasted more than 16 hours.

The 293,000-barrel-a-day refinery includes an east and west plant, and this incident happened at the west plant.
