From the lack of recent posts, HES seems to be off a lot of investors radars, as is BP. The stock price keeps inching up into the mid-seventies, while retail seems to be aloof to it's rise. There was a broker prediction awhile back that had a $110 number by early 2019.

The news from Guyana keeps getting better, with their partner XOM saying they have 4 billion bbls. discovered, of which HES has a 30% position. Since, the US Gov't has said there is likely 15 BILLION BBLLS. to be discovered, HES appears to be ridiculously undervalued.

$HES Hess (NYSE:HES) CEO John Hess says he has met with at least 50 top investors to tout the prospects of an offshore Guyana field the company is developing with Exxon even though it will not flow for at least two years, promising that his long-term approach will “make our shareholders a lot of money.”

Hess is under renewed pressure from activist investor Elliott Management for faster results, but the CEO is placing his faith in the $4.4B Guyana project, which is expected to produce at least 120K bbl/day, about half the company’s total forecast output this year - when it starts producing in 2020.

“I wish the stock price were higher," Hess tells Bloomberg, as the company's stock price has plunged 20% over the past two weeks. “But I’m confident that as each quarter goes by and we get closer to first oil from Guyana," and as the company hits goals for production and cash growth, “those milestones will help people that are waiting on the sidelines to get in.”

Hess upgraded at Wells Fargo on growth, operating costs, balance sheet

Hess (HES +2.4%) is higher after Wells Fargo upgrades shares to Outperform from Market Perform with a $57-$59 price target, eyeing improved cash generation and free cash flow as well as the potential for higher h2 production guidance.

Wells likes the company's growth potential, operating cost performance, balance sheet strength, exploration update and current discounted valuation.

The firm also expects HES to grow at a compound annual rate of 4.9% through 2019.

Hess Midstream sees IPO price at $19-$21
Hess Midstream Partners (HES -0.7%) sets its upcoming IPO at 12.5M units priced at $19-$21/unit, for gross proceeds of ~$250M, according to an S-1/A statement.
Hess Midstream is an MLP formed by Hess and Global Infrastructure Partners to own pipeline and storage assets in the Bakken Shale in North Dakota, and booked $510M in sales for FY 2016.
The partnership plans to list on the NYSE under the symbol HESM.

I don't know if I agree about $20 but yes BK are coming and although they can still pump oil at these prices in most cases they can't still unconventional economically.

Still challenges ahead. What has been reception to this offering? Capital markets are tight for oil and gas currently.

Unfortunately, this $1.5 billion equity raise is pretty small. I expect more dilution going forward as crude isn't ready to recover.. I waited too long to exit.

Hess Corp., battered by the prolonged slump in energy prices, said Thursday that it plans to sell around $1.5 billion worth of its shares in a bid to raise cash.

Shares of the company, down 40% in the past year, fell 6.5% to $40.65 a share in after-hours trading.

Hess said it would offer 25 million shares of its common stock and 10 million depositary shares, which represent a 5% interest in a share of its convertible preferred stock. At Hess's current common stock price and a $50 value for its depositary shares, the combined size of the offerings would be around $1.5 billion.

The underwriters on the offering also have the option to buy as many as 3.75 million shares of Hess's common stock and 1.5 million depositary shares.

Hess said it would use the proceeds to strengthen its balance sheet and fund longer-term capital needs.

Last week, Hess said its fourth-quarter loss deepened as the average price for its crude tumbled 42% from the prior year and the company booked a $1.36 billion impairment charge.
