AMICAS and MEDITECH Continue to Reap Success With Seven New PACS
Implementations; Collaboration Around Customers, Integration, and
Development RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
AMICAS Inc., a leader in Web-based image and information
management, and MEDITECH Information Technology, Inc., a leader in
health care information systems (HCIS), today announced new
customer signings, additional product integration, and joint
marketing activities at the upcoming 2004 Radiological Society of
North America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago, IL. Building upon a
long-standing commitment to MEDITECH institutions and with
MEDITECH, AMICAS is pleased to announce the recently signed
additions of Delnor Community Hospital (Geneva, IL), Androscoggin
Valley Hospital (Berlin, NH), Person Memorial Hospital (Roxboro,
NC), Portage Health System (Hancock, MI), Johnston Memorial
Hospital (Smithfield, NC), Quincy Medical Center (Quincy, MA), and
Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals (Columbia, SC) to its
considerable base of MEDITECH customers now running its Vision
Series(TM) PACS. Since their first joint PACS integration to
MEDITECH's HCIS over two years ago at Satilla Regional Medical
Center (Waycross, GA), AMICAS and MEDITECH have honed a robust
integration platform based upon customized AMICAS integration
scripts. The integration has been implemented across dozens of
healthcare institutions, providing clinical users with fast, easy
access to medical images and reports through the MEDITECH
electronic medical record. Tightly integrated with MEDITECH, Vision
Series PACS' Forever Priors(TM) architecture provides one-click
access to all imaging studies from a centralized spinning disk
repository. Within a single sign-on environment secured and managed
with HIPAA auditing, physicians can quickly review a patient's
history, including prior images and reports for comparisons, from
any desktop PC. Since it occurs within MEDITECH's enterprise and
electronic medical record products and/or its emergency department
management application, there is no additional end user training or
support required. The integration between these applications places
all images and patient information securely in the hands of
clinicians wherever they are and whenever they want, both improving
physician efficiency and raising the standard of patient care.
"MEDITECH and AMICAS have a long history of working cooperatively
to offer fully-integrated RIS, PACS, and EMR solutions to our
customers," said Hoda Sayed-Friel, vice president of marketing at
MEDITECH. "Our long-standing relationship has benefited our
customers through improved workflow, secure integration, and image
distribution based upon the full complement of bi- directional HL7
messaging from the MEDITECH PACS Integration Suite." "We continue
to dedicate significant resources to our integration efforts with
MEDITECH," said AMICAS president Hamid Tabatabaie. "Our efforts
have resulted in an integration methodology that is both successful
and repeatable across every MEDITECH environment. Our customers are
comforted by the strength of our technology and the breadth of our
MEDITECH experience. But we pledge to go further. We will continue
to innovate, delivering integrations that help our customers
achieve filmless and paperless operations, improving patient care
and optimizing workflow across their healthcare enterprises." At
RSNA 2004, AMICAS Vision Series PACS and MEDITECH EMR integration
will be demonstrated in the AMICAS booth (8520). Representatives
will be available in both AMICAS' booth as well as in MEDITECH's
booth (8954) to answer any questions or to discuss any aspect of
the integration. To schedule a demonstration appointment, please
