GEELY, 07.03.2023 LEVC’S ELECTRIC TX OVERTAKES DIESEL IN LONDON
Ansty, 7th March 2023 – There are now more LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) TX electric taxis on the streets of London than diesel TX4s, as the capital’s transition to a clean, green EV black cab fleet continues to accelerate.
Highlighting the transition away from fossil fuel, LEVC’s TX taxi – the world’s most advanced electric taxi – now represents more than 40% of official black cabs, with over 6,000 vehicles operating in the capital.

London EV Company Limited (LEVC, formerly The London Taxi Corporation Limited trading as The London Taxi Company) is a British automotive electric vehicle manufacturer with its headquarters at Ansty near Coventry, England, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese automaker Geely. Geely has a sprawling carmaking empire and has listed parts of Volvo Cars, including Polestar. Its premium Chinese luxury brand Zeekr is talking to investors about a possible initial public offering.
Geely also plans to turn the London Electric Vehicle Company, which makes iconic black taxis, into a high-volume, all-electric brand.

The Geely-owned company is still in its infancy but in 2022, was able to sell an impressive 72,000 vehicles, most of which were sold in China. In January it asserted that it would sell upwards of 140,000 vehicles this year but through the first half of 2023, it was tracking well behind that target having delivered 42,633 vehicles. It did have a particularly strong June, however, selling a total of 10,620 vehicles.

OH my GAWD, Waymo robotaxi based on the Zeekr SEA-M platform
.... In December 2021, Geely announced that Zeekr would be collaborating with Waymo to develop and provide all-electric, autonomous ride-hailing vehicle for the Waymo One autonomous mobility service in the United States.[4] The vehicle integrated with Waymo’s technology was unveiled in Los Angeles in November 2022.[5]

Waymo late on Wednesday revealed its new robotaxi based on a platform developed by Geely and its Zeekr EV brand.
Alphabet Inc.'s self-driving division first announced plans for the robotaxi in late 2021, and at Wednesday's reveal the company said the vehicle will be deployed in the Waymo One robotaxi service in “the years to come.”
Zeekr hasn't said where the robotaxis will be built, though Geely has a new plant in China established for production of vehicles based on the SEA platform.
Separately, Zeekr is developing its own vehicle with Level 4 self-driving capability in a partnership with Intel's Mobileye self-driving division. The targeted launch is 2024.

The company launched its first electric hyper-SUV Eletre last year, with customer deliveries taking place in China at the end of March 2023 and UK and Europe imminently. Lotus recently launched Emeya, its next generation electric hyper-GT, in early September 2023.
Lotus continues to see a huge demand for its products, with an orderbook of over 17,000 vehicles for its Emira sports car and Eletre hyper-SUV. Lotus has ramped up production this year, having had a record-breaking first half of 2023, with an 381% increase from FY22. It expects the full year to surpass all previous years.

NIO Capital's partner, Ning Yu, was formerly a Vice President of Geely Group and was involved in the acquisition of Proton, Lotus, Terrifugia, and Daimler Benz. He may have played a key role in facilitating NIO Capital's investment in Lotus Technology.
Construction has begun on Lotus Technology's global headquarters in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily on Tuesday.
The facility covers an area of about 186 mu (124,000 square meters), with a floor space of 390,000 square meters and a total investment of RMB 3 billion, previous information showed. The company's smart factory with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles is expected to start production by the end of the year.
Geely acquired Lotus in 2017 and owns 51 percent of the latter, including Lotus Cars and Lotus Engineering.
