IBC Bank, in partnership with H-E-B and Operation Interdependence®, collected 23 tons of supplies through Operation Care Drop, an annual donation drive that will reach more than 80,000 of our nation’s servicemen and women. The 4th annual drive, which ran from May 30 through July 4, also collected over 20,000 letters of gratitude and support.

More than 225 IBC branches across Texas and Oklahoma and 69 H-E-B stores in Texas, with in-store IBC branches, took part in Operation Care Drop this year. A website and Facebook page were also introduced for the public to learn more about the initiative and ways to get involved. The letter-writing component of the initiative received a bigger push this year thanks to the support of community organizations and school districts.

“Operation Care Drop has become one of the most important initiatives within IBC Bank. As a community-focused institution, we feel it is our duty to encourage the community to support the men and women who are overseas serving our country,” said IBC Chairman and CEO Dennis E. Nixon. “We are so grateful to our partners and to everyone who has supported Operation Care Drop to make this year’s drive our most successful yet.”

To help increase the number of care packages and letters of support that Operation Interdependence sends to our servicemen and women, IBC Bank enlisted the help of Texas-based H-E-B grocery stores in 2008 and the partnership has significantly contributed to the initiative’s continuous success.

“H-E-B strives to be a committed community partner, and we make it a priority to give back. We are honored to work with IBC and Operation Interdependence for the third consecutive year to show our support and gratitude to those serving overseas to defend our freedoms,” said Winell Herron, Group Vice-President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs, H-E-B. “We are thrilled to be delivering nearly 60,000 care packages thanks to the generosity of our community.”

IBC and H-E-B have worked with Operation Interdependence, the premier Civilian-to-Military Delivery System in the United States, to ship and distribute the packages overseas. Operation Care Drop has become one of the biggest contributors in Operation Interdependence’s history.

“IBC and H-E-B have been so gracious to join Operation Interdependence again in an ongoing effort in support of our troops that are stationed overseas. The Operation Care Drop initiative has become a major foundation for our organization, but our work does not stop here,” said Jerry Harmon, Operation Manager of Operation Interdependence. “To continue to provide necessities from home, we need the public’s support to provide both goods and much needed monetary donations for shipping year-round.”

To help offset Operation Interdependence’s shipping costs, IBC also raised over $19,000 from community donations at their branches and through the website, www.myoperationcaredrop.com. The site will continue to collect donations throughout the year to continue to fund the shipping of donations collected through Operation Care Drop.
