All they need to do to have 1.15 in eps is break even. Any profits take eps higher. Nice short position that will be needing to cover, also.

Great quarter and well capitalized. Only 8.8 million shares are issued and outstanding, just 498,000 in the float and about 58% of those are short.

Independent Bank Corporation (NASDAQ: IBCP) reported first quarter 2012 net income applicable to common stock of $2.4 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, versus a net loss applicable to common stock of $8.4 million, or $1.06 per share, in the prior-year period.

The first quarter of 2012 was highlighted by:

A return to profitability and significant improvement in operating results due primarily to declines in the provision for loan losses and in non-interest expenses and an increase in non-interest income that were partially offset by a decline in net interest income.

Additional improvement in asset quality with non-performing assets down 12% since the end of 2011.

A 52% decline in the provision for loan losses.

Strong mortgage-banking results with a 99% increase in net gains on mortgage loans.

Additional growth in core deposits which increased 5% since the end of 2011.

Regulatory capital ratios that increased and remain above minimum requirements for "well-capitalized" institutions.

The only folks who are doing well with this bank are the CEO & CFO. While the stockdeclins fromm $30.00 to $1.75 they spend time chasing golf balls and skirts. This bank has become a joke.

No volume, would not take much to pump or dump this stock.

I agree, this stock was my bigest looooooooooooser. They did a forward split and then a reverse slit back to back. All investors at that point had lost 80% of thier investment. I think they might drop down around $1.00 ish then rebound and show some stibility. just my thoughts Rickyrichie

Yes, still holding hoping for the .40 break. That will be huge, upper bollie break, RSI 50 break, and resistance .40 break will occur all at the same time. That equals BOOOOM, if the stars line up just right.

Anyone else here? Looks like some big momentum building here...

Uptrend continues, looking very bullish, needs to confirm a break of the middle bollie at .33, then we may see a push to .35 plus, slow and steady goes the train.

It is difficult to guess what they will do. They have been advising that they were well capitalized for 4-5 years but still took the 72 million bailout. Now the new issue to increase their capital that they advise that they don't need. Strange bank.

Too many Market makers on level 2 bid fighting for position, Sub .32 won't last much longer in my opinion, I think it breaks today.

Unfortunately, most company don't always do what is right for the shareholders, but I would have to believe that the upside here outweighs the down, by long ways. Good Luck.

I'm not big on charts--I don't believe in reading charts at all. But I'm in too at $0.28. The downside to me seems that they do that $100 million+ offering at a few cents below the current price. The upside is that they reduce their offering to only taking cash when they need it for the next year or so. In my opinion the latter would be the right thing to do for current shareholders.

I am playing this more as a chart play, the chart looks prime for a big bounce, take a look back at the MBHI chart right before they went belly up, this thing reminds of that play so much. I feel like the market might have a good run in store here also.

The big issue right now is undoubtedly the $110 million to $126.5 million in shares IBCP wants to sell. Where those shares are priced will have a major impact on where the common shares end up. The U.S. Treasury's $72 million preferred they received for the TARP money given to IBCP also gets converted based on that price. Typically shares like that are priced at lower than the market.

I loaded up on the big dip day, been pretty boring trading since then, I still think this is in the beginning stages of a reversal though
