City of San José Deploys Beam Global EV ARC™ Sustainable EV Charging Systems
Transportable, one City EV ARC™ system to be featured at Fleet Forward Conference at Hayes Mansion November 10-12
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 9, 2021—Beam Global, (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), the leading provider of innovative sustainable technology for electric vehicle (EV) charging, outdoor media and energy security, announced that the City of San José in California has deployed four EV ARC™ solar-powered EV charging systems to charge City fleet EVs. The systems were purchased through the California Department of General Services (DGS) Contract #1-18-61-16, which serves to simplify the government procurement process and make chosen solutions available statewide at the best negotiated pricing.
The City of San José’s EV ARC™ charging systems fit in a standard parking space and are equipped with a dual port charger to serve the City’s growing fleet of electric vehicles. Each EV ARC™ system generates and stores its own clean electricity and delivers that electricity to power City EVs day or night, and during inclement weather and power outages. Flood proof to 9.5 feet and wind-rated to 120 mph, the product adds to the City’s energy resiliency and disaster preparedness. The transportable but permanent unit includes the Emergency Power Panel option for first responder use during blackouts or in locations where there is no utility connection available.
City of San José Deploys Beam Global EV ARC™ Sustainable EV Charging Systems
“San José has always been a visionary city when it comes to sustainability. We have a goal to operate all-electric, zero-net-carbon new municipal facilities,” said Walter Lin, Public Works Deputy Director of the City of San José. “City fleet vehicles can charge sustainably and cost-effectively with the Beam EV ARC™ solar electric vehicle charging systems bringing the city that much closer to achieving our clean energy future.”
Transportable, the City’s EV ARC systems can be relocated as fleet charging patterns emerge, for City events, and as an emergency energy source. One EV ARC™ will be relocated for demonstration at the Fleet Forward conference at Hayes Mansion in San José on November 10-12, a premier event focused on innovations in the electrification of transportation.
Requiring no connection to the utility grid, Beam Global products eliminate disruptive construction projects, costly electric circuit upgrades and utility charges to deliver significant long-term savings to city budgets.
“By deploying 100% renewably-powered Beam Global charging infrastructure solutions, San José is demonstrating its standing as a climate and resiliency leader,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “With demand for EVs continuing to rise, municipalities in California and beyond are recognizing the cost and time savings unlocked by sustainable, transportable EV ARC systems for their rapidly growing charging needs.”
California Governor California Governor Gavin Newsom’s commitments to fast-track progress toward environmental goals include $1.5 billion in stimulus spending dedicated to zero-emission vehicles and new charging systems. This proposal follows a September 2020 mandate banning the sale of new gasoline and diesel vehicles in the state by 2035. Beam Global Announces Record Contracted Backlog of More Than $7M and Pipeline of More Than $75M
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Beam Global, (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), the leading provider of innovative sustainable technology for electric vehicle (EV) charging, outdoor media and energy security, announced that it has a current backlog of purchase orders for EV ARC™, and other proprietary products, totaling more than $7M. This is a historically high level of contracted backlog for the Company and represents near-term future revenue which is greater than any prior full year. The Company’s sales pipeline has also grown from $50M at the end of the second quarter to more than $75M at the end of Q3 representing a material acceleration of Pipeline growth which is also at historically high levels.
Both backlog and pipeline amounts are comprised of purchase orders and opportunities (respectively) which include EV ARC™ system quantities which are greater than historical averages. Backlog includes orders which have transitioned from pipeline in less time than historical averages. The Company believes that these trends are indicative of increased order volumes and urgency, as federal, state and local governments accelerate their adoption of EVs, and as corporations return to the workplace post-vaccine resulting in an increased requirement for workplace charging.
Beam is making modest but highly impactful investments in its factory facility and delivery equipment to allow for an efficient increase in throughput and delivery of products. Certain purchase orders currently in backlog, like the recently announced United States Marine Corps order, are placed through government contract vehicles which specify delivery times of 90 days from purchase order issuance.
“It took ten years for us to get a pipeline of $50M and just one more quarter to get to over $75M,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “We are converting pipeline to backlog and backlog to revenue at better rates than at any time in our history and we only anticipate improving on all these metrics. Government tailwinds both in the US and internationally, and consumer adoption of the fantastic new line up of EVs now available are creating the intense and urgent need for EV charging infrastructure that has been central to our investment thesis. We have zero debt and plenty of cash to execute on our organic growth. There’s never been a better time to be Beam.”
Car News reports that there will be 100 EV models to choose from in 2022 including the Ford F-150 Lightning and several other van, SUV, sedan and luxury models delivered by the large OEMs and new entrants like Rivian and Lucid. Announcements of investments in the tens of billions from the large OEMs are not uncommon and most auto manufactures have committed to fully electric fleets in the next two decades. The U.S. federal government fleet encompasses about 657,000 cars, SUVs and trucks. In January, Executive Order 14008 was signed directing agencies to dramatically increase the number of electric vehicles in the government fleet to help tackle the climate crisis. Beam’s EV charging infrastructure products are included on the federal GSA MAS Contract as the result of an extensive evaluation process conducted by GSA that serves as a testament to the company’s capabilities, performance history and customer satisfaction. State makes $4 million investment to support energy resilience, disaster preparedness and EV fleet sustainability at 12 state agencies
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 20, 2021 - Beam Global (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), the leading provider of innovative sustainable technology for electric vehicle (EV) charging, outdoor media, and energy security, announced an order from the California Department of General Services (DGS) for 52 Beam Global EV ARC™ solar-powered EV charging systems. The EV ARC™ systems will expand access to sustainable EV charging and emergency power for 12 state government agencies. Beam Global EV charging infrastructure products are transportable, off-grid and require no construction, permitting or electrical work, providing fleet vehicles with access to clean, resilient EV charging. Wind rated to 120mph, flood-proof to 9 ½ feet and featuring an emergency power panel, the EV ARC™ systems also serve as emergency preparedness sustainable generators for fleet operators and first responders as they continue to operate during grid failures and provide power in locations without access to the utility grid.
EV ARC 2020 Drive on Sunshine
Funded by a California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) grant and executed by the DGS Office of Sustainability’s Transportation Unit, the order will bolster the state’s off grid and resilient EV charging infrastructure for government-owned fleets, which already incorporates Beam Global products previously deployed statewide. This order is purchased through DGS’ statewide California Contract #1-18-61-16 which simplifies the procurement process, ensures best pricing and is available to all state agencies and local government entities. The systems will provide power during emergencies and charge State of California EV fleets year-round. DGS has allocated the new EV ARC™ systems, according to each agency’s needs, for delivery and deployment within 90 days of order placement. This bulk purchase reflects Beam Global’s capability to fulfill orders of increasing scale while generating recurring demand, particularly in the public sector.
“We believe that this, the largest single order in our history is indicative of an increased emphasis on rapidly deployed and grid independent EV charging infrastructure by all branches of government,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “The U.S. has a Strategic Petroleum Reserve but there is no Strategic Electricity Reserve. Each EV ARC deployed contributes to our nation’s energy security and in combination, provide the beginnings of a Strategic Electric Reserve. We are observing that this vital capability is becoming increasingly recognized in purchasing decisions and we applaud DGS and OES for taking this leadership position in securing the fuel of the future for California.”
