Anthology on the power of medical humanities by Emily F. Peters is recognized for creative excellence and design

Procedure Press today announced that the acclaimed book Artists Remaking Medicine by Emily F. Peters has been recognized with three new prominent awards this summer: named as a Gold Winner in the 2024 Hermes Creative Awards and as a 2024 International Book Awards finalist in two categories — “Nonfiction: Creative” and “Best Interior Design.” Featuring the work of 25 artists addressing America’s healthcare crisis through music, architecture, color, and photography, Artists Remaking Medicine was first published in October 2023.

The 2024 International Book Awards, one of the world’s largest book award programs, honors excellence in independent and mainstream publishing. Sponsored by American Book Fest, 500 titles were recognized across more than 100 categories this year, with awards presented to books published in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The Hermes Creative Awards celebrate outstanding work in the marketing and communication industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of professionals in these fields. This year, the competition received over 6,500 entries from the United States, Canada, and 36 other countries.

“This book is a true collaboration. I am honored to share these recognitions by Hermes and the International Book Awards with the many artists, writers, designers, and production partners who came together with me to share the stories of radical creativity in healthcare,” said Peters. “It is thrilling to see Artists Remaking Medicine being used as a tool of imagination by clinicians, medical students, patients, creatives, and changemakers — we need everyone in this work of designing a better future for our healthcare system.”

Since launch, the book has been a frequent best-seller on Amazon and has been celebrated by NPR and proto.life as well as from healthcare sector leaders, including ethics and humanities programs at top medical schools.

Artists Remaking Medicine is available for purchase at major book retailers and online platforms. Women Remaking Medicine, written by Peters, was also published by Procedure Press in 2019. For more information about the book and its accolades, please visit procedure.press.
