Located in Tom Foolerys Adventure Park, the Calming Room offers
a serene sanctuary designed to provide relief and comfort for
individuals who may experience sensory challenges. Whether it be
individuals on the autism spectrum, those with sensory processing
disorders, or anyone seeking a quiet space to decompress, the
calming room provides a supportive environment.
"A significant number of children and adults experience sensory
overload at times," explained Adam Messer, President of Dell
Children’s. "When this occurs, they need a dedicated place to relax
and decompress. Creating this calming room in collaboration with
Kalahari Resorts is another example of Dell Children's working
together with families to help children live safe, healthy, and
happy lives."
The new calming room at Kalahari will offer several
sensory-friendly activities, books, fidget toys, and
noise-canceling headphones. Also equipped with comfortable seating
and calming visuals, the room aims to create a soothing atmosphere
conducive to relaxation.
"At Kalahari Resorts, we strive to create an inclusive
environment, where every guest feels welcomed and valued," said
Jeffrey Yedlin, General Manager of Kalahari Resorts and Conventions
in Round Rock. "The introduction of our Calming Room reinforces our
commitment to accessibility and helps to ensure that all guests can
fully enjoy their time with us."
The Calming Room is part of a collaboration between Kalahari
Resorts and Dell Children’s that offers health and safety benefits
and education to resort guests. In addition to the Calming Room,
Dell Children’s is also sponsoring important health and safety
messaging throughout the resort, including within the Kalahari
Fitness Studio, in waterpark spaces, and on new hand-sanitizing
stations.
This is the second Calming Room at a Kalahari Resort. Kalahari
also offers a Calming Room at its Ohio property.
