Carlos Ferreiro to Step Down; Juan Pablo Newman to be Appointed Interim CFO

TelevisaUnivision, Inc., the world's leading Spanish-language media and content company, today announced that Carlos Ferreiro will be stepping down from his role as Chief Financial Officer for health reasons. Juan Pablo Newman, Chief Growth Officer of TelevisaUnivision Mexico, has been appointed Interim CFO, effective September 1, 2024. Ferreiro will stay with the company in an advisory role and will ensure a smooth transition.

A veteran finance executive, Ferreiro has served as CFO of TelevisaUnivision since October 2021, overseeing all areas of the company’s global finance organization, including corporate finance, treasury, risk management, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, audit, tax, procurement, real estate and corporate business development. Prior to this role, Ferreiro held various leadership positions at Grupo Televisa for over 20 years.

About Juan Pablo Newman Aguilar

As Chief Growth Officer of TelevisaUnivision Mexico, Juan Pablo Newman Aguilar oversees all domestic ad sales, marketing and commercial operations of national and local free-to-air TV, pay TV, digital O&O and streaming in the country. He works alongside cross-functional teams, including production, programming, research, and information technologies, integrating ad sales and content.

Before joining TelevisaUnivision, he served as CEO of Afore XXI-Banorte, the largest pension fund in Latin America. Prior to this, Newman Aguilar was the Head of the Public Credit Unit at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) of Mexico, overseeing national internal and external debt. Newman Aguilar also served as CFO of Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Mexico’s state-owned oil company, where he successfully implemented an energy reform that stabilized the credit rating of the company and executed the company’s first oil hedging program.

Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Investment Officer and Treasury of Nacional Financiera (NAFIN), Mexico’s biggest development bank. Newman Aguilar holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and received his master’s degree in Operational Research from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
