MILPITAS, Calif. and BERLIN, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- JDSU (Nasdaq: JDSU; and TSX: JDU) today announced its participation in the multi-vendor Interoperability Showcase test event organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC). The Interoperability Showcase takes place at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC) 2009 in Berlin, September 21-25. JDSU is among 24 expert industry participants, including leading network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), taking part in the event. The participants will demonstrate a single interoperable multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet network supporting Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-defined business services, residential triple play services and mobile backhaul solutions. The Interoperability Showcase highlights the results of a two-week hot stage test, a preparation event at EANTC that included mobile synchronization, Ethernet OAM implementations, and global interconnect solutions. The test results will validate the interoperability of different transport technologies including pre-standard MPLS-TP and PBB-TE. A new white paper documenting the contents and success of the interoperability testing in detail will be published today by EANTC. Throughout testing, JDSU successfully showcased its expertise based on decades of test and measurement innovation supporting NEMs and service providers worldwide to build, deploy, and manage Ethernet and Business Class solutions, including mobile backhaul. JDSU's single-source Carrier Ethernet test portfolio facilitates analysis of all seven layers of Metro Ethernet services. JDSU demonstrated a deep set of test features in an integrated, end-to-end approach to testing Metro Ethernet products and services, including lab and service verification, development and production, installation and maintenance, troubleshooting and overall service assurance. "JDSU is proud to successfully contribute to the Carrier Ethernet interoperability test - we applaud the EANTC and CEWC for staging a first-class event to help shape the global future of Carrier Ethernet technologies and applications," said Manuel Mato, regional vice president, EMEA, JDSU Communications Test and Measurement business segment. "The event gives important visibility into our wide range of Carrier Ethernet test capabilities that allow service provider and NEM customers to deploy Ethernet with confidence." JDSU's contributions included the capability to thoroughly test wander, a critical measurement for today's Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM)-based mobile backhaul solutions and for emerging Ethernet-based solutions such as Sync Ethernet. In addition, JDSU and its partner Calnex Solutions, a provider of in-line test solutions for emerging packet transport and carrier Ethernet network technologies, demonstrated a combined solution for low speed Sync Ethernet testing.
