Randgold Resources Ld (GOLD), the African focused gold mining and exploration company, said Wednesday it sold 5 million common shares in Volta Resources Inc (VTR.T) at C$1.59 per common share on May 12, raising total proceeds of C$7.95 million.

MAIN FACTS:

-Cash proceeds received will be used for general corporate purposes.

-Randgold continues to hold 15.99 million common shares in Volta.

-Management of Randgold has no on-going involvement with the Kiaka project or Volta and will continue to categorize the remaining Randgold investment in Volta as available-for-sale financial assets.

-Randgold shares in London at 0810 GMT down 150 pence, or 2.5%, at 5900 pence valuing the company at GBP5.32 billion.
