SALT LAKE CITY, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Terra Systems, Inc. (OTC:TSYI) (BULLETIN BOARD: TSYI) Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. visited the Western Energy Training Center ("WETC") on April 2nd, 2008 to sign Utah's SB224 Coal Mine Safety Act and establish an office in WETC to oversee the program. During his visit he expressed his support of the "Clean Coke" Pilot Facility being constructed at WETC. This U.S. Department of Energy recognized, Center of Excellence ("COE"), combines the energy industry and business expertise of Terra Systems, Inc., Combustion Resources LLC ("CR"), and Flying Sensors with the advanced training facilities and control methodologies of WETC. The Clean Coke pilot facility is designed to provide a learning environment to train a new workforce and gain hands-on experience with new technologies while conducting further research and development ("R&D") and producing finished product for testing in the marketplace. The pilot facility is currently projected to begin production in July, 2008. Orders have been secured for the initial coke production of the pilot facility, which has a design capacity of [2] tons per hour. The U.S. coke fuel market is highly dependent on foreign sources to meet demand. The U.S. currently produces less than 10% of the coke product necessary to support the $50 billion world wide coke industry. The production of Clean Coke briquettes will help decrease U.S. dependency on foreign fuel sources and provide a cleaner fuel to help meet ever increasing environmental requirements. Most producers of coke utilize older technology that is very inefficient, thus producing heavy emissions and waste products. The Clean Coke process is "Greener" in all aspects of its operation and finished product. The process can utilize, as a portion of its feedstock, coal that oftentimes exists in waste piles at abandoned or existing coal mines. In addition, the patent pending process is designed to sequester the off gas into re-usable products and recover waste oils as a component in the feedstock blending process. The finished Clean Coke briquettes can also be formulated to meet or reduce emissions when combusted in industrial furnaces. Terra Systems has secured an exclusive licensing agreement from Combustion Resources to commercialize Combustion Resource's patent pending Clean Coke technology. Terra Systems has begun plans to develop the first of four full scale facilities targeted for completion by 2010. The first 240,000 ton per year facility is planned for construction near Price, Utah. An option has been agreed upon for an existing building structure, including the existing processing equipment within the facility, some of which can be utilized in the full scale plant. The primary feedstock for the pilot plant and first full scale facility has been secured. The feedstock will be processed and supplied by Terra Systems. Terra Systems' patented Pneumatic Accelerator Technology will be utilized to clean the nominal value coal of ash and other contaminants. The processed coal will then be blended with higher value feedstock and formed into briquettes as part of the Clean Coke process. The finished product from the Clean Coke facility can then be used as a key component of the "charge" processed in large industrial furnaces used in the steel, phosphorus, sugar, foundry, metals smelting and soda ash industries. The secondary products recovered and sold from the Clean Coke process include: ammonium sulfate, methane gas, BTX (a mixture of benzene, toluene and xylene), and sulfur. Bob Carter, Business Consultant with COE stated, "The ability for a pilot facility to generate a positive cash flow while providing a hands on training program, conducting R&D, optimizing control and operation of the process, without shutting down the full scale facilities, is revolutionary to this industry." George Ford, President of TSYI added, "The pilot facility allows us to test the Clean Coke technology in a manner that also produces a marketable product. We intend to rapidly expand the use of this technology within the U.S. and abroad. The pilot facility also facilitates the R&D and training necessary to provide turnkey packages based on our patented Pneumatic Accelerator System that can be rapidly deployed to recover nominal value waste coal piles throughout the world."
