Advance of National Express Group AGM
LONDON – On Tues., 5 May, 2015, from 18:30 – 20:00, Prof.
William Gould, the former highest
ranking U.S. labour law official under President Bill Clinton, will discuss his experience as
Independent Monitor of United
Kingdom-based transportation company FirstGroup from 2008 to
2011. This discussion is relevant as shareholders of FirstGroup's
competitor, U.K.-based National Express Group PLC (LON: NEX)
prepare for a vote on a shareholder resolution that will be
presented at the company's Annual General Meeting on 6 May in
London.

The resolution calls for the National Express Board of Directors
to adopt an Independent Monitoring programme in the face of
continued anti-worker allegations at its U.S. school bus
subsidiary, Durham School Services. The resolution calls for
independent review of labor concerns at Durham.
Professors Ian Greer of the
University of Greenwich and Jane
Holgate of the University of Leeds, along with Unite the Union, the
International Transport Workers' Federation and the North American
International Brotherhood of Teamsters will join in the
discussion.
Gould will also be joined by representatives from a delegation
of community and religious leaders from the U.S. who have firsthand
experience with National Express' U.S.
operations.
