Stock Listing: MP:TSXV Stock Listing (US): MCTYF: OTC Outstanding Shares: 29.9 million Web Site: www.microplanet.com SEATTLE, WA, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MicroPlanet, (MP:TSXV & MCTYF:OTC) a clean technology, energy conservation company, announced today that the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), has released their Advanced Technologies Evaluation Report dated December 2007. The report demonstrates that MicroPlanet products reduced kWh energy consumption by approximately 10% on air conditioning and lighting loads. The testing was done over a 131 day period at a customer site. The SMUD report concluded that MicroPlanet products manage line voltage to optimal levels, improving the efficiency of air conditioning systems and reducing the amount of energy necessary for operations. SMUD also concluded that deploying MicroPlanet products can boost line voltage where it is low, mitigating voltage flicker and improving the power factor. According to the SMUD report, MicroPlanet products saved significant amounts of energy and improved the power quality for their customers. "Since the majority of California's summer peak electric demand is due to residential air conditioning, SMUD was particularly interested in evaluating the efficiency of air conditioning systems operating at lower than typical utility line voltages," said Bruce Lisanti CEO of MicroPlanet. "This report clearly demonstrates the potential of our advanced technology to conserve energy." "As a result of this report, SMUD is now looking at MicroPlanet's products for their energy efficiency rebate programs. These programs encourage energy conservation and can speed the large-scale adoption of our technology in California. Both residential and commercial clients can substantially reduce their energy consumption. Our customers can save energy, lower their utility bills and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions", said Lisanti. MicroPlanet is working with more than 30 utilities worldwide, in addition to many large commercial accounts. The company has installed over 600 systems in pilot programs, which continue to return very positive results. 5-8% reductions in energy consumption in residential applications and 5-12% in commercial environments are common without requiring any changes in customer behavior patterns. About Sacramento Municipal Utility District Based in Sacramento, California, SMUD is the nation's sixth largest community-owned electric utility in terms of customers served.
