TORONTO and MONTRÉAL,
June 18, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - eHealth
Ontario and CGI (TSX: GIB.A)
(NYSE: GIB) announced today that they have received a decision from
the former Chief Justice of Ontario, the Honourable Warren Winkler, in an
arbitration relating to eHealth Ontario's cancellation of the diabetes
registry project in September 2012.
Justice Winkler awarded CGI
$26.9 Million Dollars to compensate
for its work on a diabetes registry for the province from 2010 to
2012.
"Today's award was based on Mr. Winkler's assessment of what
represented fair and reasonable compensation for CGI," said
Ray Hession, chair of the board of
directors at eHealth Ontario. "It
also prevents potentially lengthy court proceedings."
Hession also added, "Our work with CGI has benefitted the
creation of foundational technological elements of our electronic
health system that have helped improve health care in the
province."
"As a global technology company founded and headquartered in
Canada, our history and reputation
have been built on satisfying our clients, effectively serving all
provincial governments and their citizens from coast-to-coast and
around the world," added CGI president and CEO, Michael E. Roach. "I'm pleased that we have
resolved this matter with the assistance of Mr. Winkler."
