ABB appoints MathiasGaertneras

General Counseland Company

Secretary

ABB announced today that Mathias Gaertnerhas been appointed General Counseland Company Secretary

and a Member of the Executive Committee.He will join ABB in2024 and succeed Natalia Shehadeh,who

has held the position of General Counseland Company Secretary ad interimsince June 1, 2023, and who in

the future will focus on her roleas Chief Integrity Officer of ABB. Natalia willremain in her ad interimposition

until Mathias has joined ABB.

German national, Mathias has a strongtrack record of managing internationalM&A transactions, litigations,

IP and compliance. He is currently HeadLegal & Compliance of globalconstruction materials company

Holcim and has been a member of itsGroup Executive Committee since2021. Prior to that, he spent

10 years at Honeywell Building Technologies, most recentlyas General Counsel, playing an instrumental

role in the business’ growth. He hasalso worked for law firms Skadden,Arps, Slate, Meagher& Flom LLP

and Affiliates and Baker & McKenzie. Mathiasstudied at the Universityof Münster, Germany, where he

obtained his PhD, and is admitted to theGerman bar.
