Kinema-Junposha Selects Rovi DivX Video Service to Power Premium Entertainment Content Service in Japan

IBC - Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI), driving
digital entertainment innovation,today announced that
Kinema-Junposha.Co.Ltd has selected Rovi's DivX Video Service™ to
power Japan's first DivX® premium online video store.
Kinema-Junposha, one of Japan's most distinguished entertainment
publishing firms, will use Rovi's end-to-end video solution to
provide high-quality video services on a wide range of connected
devices.
Building upon core DivX video streaming and download
technologies, and DRM (digital rights management), as well as
MainConcept® professional encoding tools, the DivX Video Service
offers components for managing the entire video distribution chain
from creation of video and enablement of secure delivery to
multi-screen playback across PC, mobile and CE devices. These
components help video services quickly scale services and offer
consumers a high level of consistency, flexibility, and
interoperability. The DivX Video Service includes Rovi's DivX Plus
Streaming™, enabling a "Blu-ray-like" experience in a streaming
environment with support for 1080p high definition, multi-language
subtitles and audio tracks, quick start, resume playback across
devices, smooth fast-forward/rewind, and future support for High
Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC/H.265).

Supporting a range of entertainment distribution models
including digital downloads and connected-device streaming, DivX
Video Service features studio-approved DivX® DRM (digital rights
management). The DivX DRM includes a system of measures that
authenticates content, users and devices in order to safeguard
premium content, while at the same time providing consumers a
flexible, multi-screen entertainment experience. The solution is
also built to be capable of supporting the creation, secure
delivery and playback of HEVC and 4K video across multiple screens.
The DivX DRM solution, when used in DivX Plus Streaming, was also
recently approved by the DECE (Digital Entertainment Content
Ecosystem consortium).
DivX Plus Streaming has been approved by studios and adopted by
companies helping to drive over-the-top entertainment distribution.
The advanced adaptive streaming format has gained the support of
integrated circuit (IC) vendors including Broadcom, MediaTek,
MStar, and Qualcomm, and has been selected to power video delivery
for a range of online entertainment services.
Visitors to IBC in Amsterdam, September 13-17, can view live
demonstrations of DivX Video Service along with Rovi's complete
range of solutions driving the advanced discovery, delivery, and
monetization of digital entertainment at Rovi's Stand 5.A31. Also
on display at the show is Rovi's end-to-end solution for HEVC.
