SST Comments on Expected Third Quarter 2004 Results and Announces
Earnings Release Date SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 20
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SST (Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.)
(NASDAQ:SSTI) announced today that revenues are expected to be in
the range of $100 to $110 million. This is down from the company's
previous guidance of $130 to $145 million. Earnings per share is
expected to be between $0.15 and $0.17 versus previous guidance of
between $0.16 and $0.21. The shortfall is primarily due to a
substantial decline in digital consumer shipments, particularly in
the DVD player application. SST believes that the extraordinarily
strong shipments to the digital consumer applications in the second
quarter resulted in excessive inventory of end products made by our
customers. With the successful transition to new manufacturing
technologies, SST has realized some manufacturing cost improvement.
As a result, gross margins are expected to be in the range of 34 to
37 percent, versus previous guidance of 32 to 35 percent. SST will
announce its third quarter 2004 financial results on Wednesday,
Oct. 20, 2004. A press release will be transmitted to the news
media immediately following the close of the market on October
20th. The company will also hold a conference call to discuss the
results at 1:30 p.m. PDT. Those wishing to participate in the
conference should dial (888) 428-4478 using the password "SST" at
approximately 1:20 p.m. PDT. A replay of the call will be available
for two weeks by dialing (800) 475-6701 using the access code

the next earnings conference call on the company's Web site at
