Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the performance company, today announced that Duke Corporate Education (Duke CE), a not-for-profit global learning and development organization, has deployed Riverbed® Steelhead® appliances, Steelhead Mobile, and Stingray ™ Aptimizer across its operations in the United States, UK and India. The Riverbed WAN optimization solutions (Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile) have increased Duke CE's application performance and eliminated the need for additional IT infrastructure at remote locations. Similarly, the organization has reduced its SharePoint response time with the Riverbed web content optimization (WCO) solution (Stingray Aptimizer). With this broad deployment of Riverbed performance solutions, Duke CE is able to grow its business without costly infrastructure upgrades, while at the same time maintaining application performance and enhancing employee productivity.

Duke CE, a support organization for Duke University, produces customized executive education programs to help large corporations meet their specific business goals. Duke CE believes that education can increase the success of an organization by enabling its people to adopt new concepts, new actions and new behaviors. After expanding across four continents, Duke CE realized it needed a way to ensure all of its global employees, including mobile workers, had equal and timely access to its corporate applications that were centralized in its private cloud environment. After evaluating multiple WAN optimization products, including those from Cisco and Blue Coat, Duke CE selected Riverbed Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile client software because of the solutions' ability to deliver superior application performance.

We had such a great experience with the Steelhead products, in fact, that as soon as we needed to accelerate SharePoint, we chose another Riverbed product, Stingray Aptimizer."

SharePoint is used by more than half of the company, but many employees were discouraged to use the collaboration tool after having to wait minutes for the webpages to render within the centralized SharePoint application. Stingray Aptimizer reduces page load times and reduces bandwidth by instantly transforming the content that is delivered from a Web server to the website viewer, accelerating website performance. As a result of deploying Stingray Aptimizer, Duke CE has experienced improved performance across various critical operations, including document management and reporting, and increased collaboration amongst globally distributed staff.
