Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company,
today announced its participation at The Experts Conference (TEC)
for Virtualization and Cloud taking place April 17-20, 2011 at the
Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, NV. TEC is an
expert-led, 400-level training on vital Microsoft technologies.
This is the inaugural year for the Virtualization & Cloud
training conference, featuring tracks on both server and desktop
virtualization. At the conference, Riverbed® technical leader Steve
Riley will share tools and techniques for cloud performance
optimization for globally connected enterprises and for determining
appropriate levels of security in the cloud.
More than 9,200 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of
markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate
their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and
virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by
distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of
data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise
huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move
farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can
stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote
office and mobile workers the same "local" performance, no matter
where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed
continues building on its success in the wide area network (WAN)
optimization and network application performance visibility markets
with new and innovative solutions for access to applications and
data deployed in the public cloud and accelerating cloud
storage.
Riverbed recently announced two new products for applications
and storage in public cloud environments. Riverbed Cloud Steelhead™
accelerates the process of migrating data and applications to the
public cloud, and accelerates access to that data and those
applications from anywhere. Additionally, the Riverbed Whitewater™
appliance provides organizations with a fast, secure and
cost-efficient method to seamlessly integrate cloud storage into
their existing backup environment and disaster recovery strategies.
With these new solutions, Riverbed helps deliver flexible,
accelerated performance without requiring IT organizations to make
changes to their current infrastructure.
Riverbed is also committed to working with Microsoft to provide
customers with core network functionality that meets growing
business demands. Riverbed provides WAN optimization for Microsoft
BPOS-D, specifically encrypted and unencrypted Exchange Online and
SharePoint Online. This accelerated and secure access for messaging
and collaboration provides customers with streamlined
communications with high availability, comprehensive security and
simplified IT management. By combining market-leading WAN
optimization solutions with Microsoft's BPOS offering, customers
benefit from improved application speed, accessibility, enhanced
BPOS services and richer end-user experiences.
To gain insight on determining the best approach for optimizing
performance and determining appropriate levels of security in cloud
environments, conference-goers can attend the following sessions
featuring Mr. Riley:
What: Wading Through the Cloud Security Swamp Who: Steve Riley,
Technical Leader at Riverbed When: Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 8:00 AM
Where: Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa
How should a company evaluate its own risk profile? What
questions do you need to ask your cloud services provider? What
about the topics of transferring risk and indemnities? In this
session Steve Riley will survey the cloud security swamp, clarify
what's real and what's hype, and help give you a realistic basis
for making risk judgments and deployment decisions.
What: Optimizing Cloud Performance Who: Steve Riley, Technical
Leader at Riverbed When: Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 2:45 PM Where:
Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa
The rapid growth of public and private cloud computing, and the
simultaneous proliferation of portable content creation tools and
ubiquitous wireless connectivity, are placing enormous pressures on
network transport and storage. To get the most out of the emerging
"distributed recentralization" now occurring, IT departments,
network operators, and businesses of all sizes will need to
consider technology options that accelerate data transmission and
reduce data amounts. These technologies bring many benefits,
including improving user experiences, retaining more customers, and
saving money on bandwidth and storage costs. Steve Riley will talk
about performance and availability challenges of cloud computing
and describe the business and technical advantages achieved through
optimization and acceleration techniques.
