          COMPLETION OF THE RESTRUCTURING OF KONKOLA COPPER MINES PLC

Further to the detailed terms announcement of ZCCM-IH dated 19 August 2002 ("the
Terms Announcement"), Standard Bank London Limited is authorised to announce
that all conditions precedent necessary to complete the restructuring of Konkola
Copper Mines plc ("KCM"), which included the exit of Anglo American plc as an
indirect shareholder in KCM and CDC Group plc and International Finance
Corporation as direct shareholders in KCM ("the Restructuring"), were fulfilled
on 17 September 2002.  Consequently, all remaining steps necessary to implement
the Restructuring, as detailed in the Terms Announcement, were completed on 17
September 2002.  The new shareholding structure of KCM is thus ZCCM-IH (42%) and
Zambia Copper Investments Limited (58%).  The shareholders of KCM will now focus
on attracting a new strategic equity investor for KCM.


Shareholders are referred to the cautionary announcements dated 26 January 2002,
28 March 2002 and 4 June 2002, and are advised that as the Restructuring has
been completed, caution is no longer needed.
