Lex announces that on 29 December 1998 it purchased all of the outstanding
15,647 Preference Shares of #1 each ("Preference Shares") at #1.30 per share
in accordance with the offer to acquire all of the Preference Shares made by
Lex on 2 October 1998.  Accordingly Lex has now acquired and cancelled all of
the 1,008,790 Preference Shares and Lex has applied to the London Stock
Exchange for the listing in these shares also to be cancelled.
