Fenner  PLC  announces that its subsidiary  company,  Fenner
Power  Transmission Limited in Australia, has contracted  to
purchase the Bearings and Engineering Supplies operations of
Webster  Limited which are based in Queensland, the Northern
Territory, South Australia and Victoria effective  from  the
1st  January,  1998.   The  overall  consideration  for  the
acquisition is approximately A$8 million (#3.25 million)  of
which approximately A$5 million (#2.03 million) will be paid
in  January,  1998  and the balance over the  following  two
years.

Mark   Abrahams,   Group  Chief  Executive,   said:    "This
acquisition is in line with the Group's strategy to increase
and strengthen the product and service offering to customers
of   its   Power  Transmission  Distribution  operation   in
Australia".
