                               Electric Word plc

             Pre-close update for the six months ended 31 May 2006


Electric Word plc, the specialist information publisher, is providing the
following update for six months ended 31 May 2006 prior to entering its close
period and ahead of its interim results announcement on 21 August 2006.


The Company's trading performance in the first half is in line with the Board's
expectations and good progress is expected for the full year. Following the
Extraordinary General Meeting held on the 31 May, the Company has successfully
completed the acquisition of Chris Kington Publishing. The acquisitions of
SportBusiness Group and Incentive Plus this year are integrating well and
continue to progress according to plan.


Chief Executive, Julian Turner commented:


"It has been a busy year to date with highly complementary acquisitions in both
of our main markets of Public Sector and Sport.  Together with Government
initiatives in education and sport, the acquisitions strengthen our existing
portfolio and provide a strong platform for continued growth."
