              Pre-close update for the year ended 30 November 2005



Electric Word plc, the specialist information publisher, is providing the
following update for the year ended 30 November 2005 prior to entering its close
period and ahead of its preliminary results announcement on 13 February 2005.



The Company's trading performance in the fourth quarter has been ahead of
expectations and as a consequence the results for the year to 30 November 2005
are likely to exceed current market forecasts, even after one-off head office
relocation costs.



Chief Executive Julian Turner commented:



"Trading has been very encouraging in both our main markets of sport and
education. Improving school management and teacher professional development
remain key government priorities and we have been particularly encouraged by
take-up of the new online teacher training business that we acquired in July."
