Dobbies Garden Centres plc Acquires Sandyholm Garden Centre


Dobbies Garden Centres plc ("Dobbies" or "the Company") announces that it has
agreed to acquire the business and assets of Sandyholm Garden Centre and Coffee
Shop ("Sandyholm") at Crossford, in Lanarkshire, for a cash consideration of �8
million plus stock at valuation.

The acquisition includes the freehold garden centre of approximately 36,000 sq.
ft. of retail space, situated on a 9 acre site.

For the year ending December 2007 Sandyholm had sales of �5.8 million and a net
profit before tax of �1.1 million. It is expected that the acquisition,
excluding reorganisation costs, will enhance earnings per share.



Dobbies' Chief Executive, James Barnes, said:

"We are very pleased to be acquiring a well known and well respected garden
centre that extends the reach of Dobbies in our Scottish heartland. This
acquisition is consistent with our strategy of owning large freehold garden
centres, which will add value to our portfolio and overall business."



The acquisition of Sandyholm by Dobbies follows on from the successful opening
of a 55,000 sqft garden centre in Southport last month and means that Dobbies
now operates from 24 sites throughout the UK.
