NOTIFICATION OF INTEREST UNDER SECTION 198 OF THE COMPANIES ACT 1989

The Company has today received notification, under Section 134 of the
Companies Act 1989 as amended by the Disclosure of Interests in Shares
(Amendment) Regulation 1993 of the following interests in ordinary shares of
10p each in Capital and Regional Properties plc, following the de merger by
BAT Industries plc of its financial services businesses (including inter alia
the Allied Dunbar, Eagle Star and Threadneedle Groups) which now form part of
the Zurich Financial Services Group, jointly controlled by Zurich Allied AG of
Switzerland and Allied Zurich plc:
