Clydeport plc ("the Company") announces that it received notification on 1
December 1998 that Phillips & Drew Fund Management Limited and Phillips & Drew
Life Limited have an interest in 5,252,840 Ordinary Shares of 5p each in the
Company representing approximately 12.72% of the issued share capital of the
Company.  Phillips & Drew Fund Management Limited and Phillips & Drew Life
Limited are subsidiaries of UBS UK Holding Limited which is also treated as
having an interest in the aforementioned shares.  The shares are registered in
various nominee names and include one holding totalling 1,609,000 Ordinary
Shares of 5p each which is registered in the name of PhilDrew Nominees Limited
A/c LF20.
