    CAINS BEER COMPANY PLC (CBC/L)
The craft brewer and pub operator from Liverpool

    AGM STATEMENT

At Cains Beer Company PLC's ("Cains" or "the Company") Annual General Meeting, which is to be held today (23 May 2008) at The Robert
Cain Brewery, Stanhope Street, Liverpool, L8 5XL at 11:00am, Chairman Roy Morris will make the following statement:

"I commented in my first Chairman's statement in the Annual Report that in spite of the well-documented unwelcome challenges to be
addressed in our markets, we are pleased with our continued progress to date and our focus and plans for a turn-around of the business
continue apace. As we announced at the time of our preliminary results in April 2008, trading in the first half of this year has been
challenging, as has been experienced by others across our sector. However, performance has been encouraging since the start of May following
the recent good weather and we have also benefited from recent wins in the contract packaging and brands divisions.

Our pub refurbishment programme, which is key to the turnaround of the group, is now well underway with 3 sites having been refurbished,
including the Malbank Inn in Nantwich, which re-opens later today following a significant investment into it and we are delighted by the
positive performance and feedback we are seeing following our recent investment at the Black Horse in Croston, Lancashire. 5 further sites
have been identified for refurbishment as the next part of the rebranding exercise with another 30 in the pipeline thereafter. We intend to
complete the refurbishment of these 5 sites within the next three months.

We have put in place the necessary controls and processes to ensure we develop and grow the business based upon a firm set of
foundations. Honeycombe has been fully integrated into the Cains' business generating numerous synergies. These include head office
consolidation, distribution and Cains branded beers pouring across pub estate since July 2007.

We recently announced that the Company has secured a nationwide listing with Morrisons supermarkets for our Finest Lager, the UK's first
premium British lager, which will be listed in over 342 Morrisons stores across the country from this month.

I am also very pleased to report that at the beginning of May, Cains' BOCK lager won first prize at Wetherspoons' International Real-Ale
Festival as voted by its customers. This is a significant and very pleasing accolade as Cains competed and won against an array of other
prestigious beers.

The first anniversary of Cains' merger with Honeycombe Leisure is almost upon us and despite remaining cautious about the outlook for
2008, I am pleased with the progress and positive steps made to date and believe that our brand, pubs and people will help us continue to
punch above our weight. We will energetically look for opportunities to further successfully grow the business in line with our vision to
become Britain's favourite beer company."
