                    Birse Group plc ("Birse" or the "Group")

                                 Board changes


Birse is pleased to announce that Gerry Roche has been appointed Group Finance
Director with immediate effect.  Gerry, who joined the Group in 1993, has
fulfilled various roles within the finance function, culminating in his current
position as Director of Accounting, a role that he has undertaken for the last
three years.  Heather Craven is leaving the Group to pursue other opportunities.


Also appointed to the Board with immediate effect are Phil Harris and Andrew
Church as Group Strategic Human Resources Director and Group Legal Director and
Company Secretary respectively.  Phil joined the Group in 2000 prior to which he
held senior HR positions in Unilever, Burmah Castrol and Tibbet & Britten.  Phil
specialises in optimising the efficient workings of business organisations.


Andrew, a qualified barrister, joined the group in 1992 having specialised in
commercial law.


Commenting upon the appointments, Peter Watson, Chairman of Birse said:


"The appointments of Gerry, Phil and Andrew reflects our stated strategic intent
to develop our business through the management talent within the Group.  These
appointments will provide the Board with a broader base of specialist skills but
more importantly, place us in a better position to respond positively to market
opportunities as they arise."
