Benfield Agrees to Acquire the Businesses of Beaufort International Insurance
Inc. and Beaufort Insurance Services Inc.

Benfield Group Limited ("Benfield"), the world's leading independent reinsurance
and risk intermediary, today announced it has entered into an agreement to
acquire the businesses of Beaufort International Insurance Inc. (BIII) and
Beaufort Insurance Services Inc. (BISI) from Beaufort Group.

Based in Calgary, Canada, BIII and BISI specialise in providing direct and
wholesale insurance broking services to the oil and gas exploration and oil
sands industries in Western Canada.

As at 31 December 2006, the gross assets of BIII and BISI were #12,500.
