                          Directors' & other interests
       Issue of new Ordinary Shares to certain Directors in lieu of fees


Further to the authority granted to the Company to issue new ordinary shares of
5p each ("new Ordinary Shares") in lieu of certain non-executive Directors'
fees, the Company has today issued in aggregate 69,411 new Ordinary Shares at
12.75p per share for the quarter ended 30 June 2003 as follows:

34,117 new Ordinary Shares to Julian Treger, in respect of his services as
non-executive Chairman; and

35,294 new Ordinary Shares to Xanthus Limited ("Xanthus") in respect of Roderick
MacLeod, non-executive Director.

Application has been made for the 69,411 new Ordinary Shares to be admitted to
trading on AIM and dealings are expected to commence on 9 July 2003.

The interests in the Company of Julian Treger, Xanthus Limited and the members
of the Concert Party and updated for the issue of the new Ordinary Shares, are
as follows:
