Total S.A. (TOT, FP.FR) will enter the U.K. shale gas industry, joining a license in the Midlands now operated by eCorp, the Financial Times reported Friday.

The deal will be announced Monday, the FT reported.

On Oct. 1, Total Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie said the company was in talks to take a stake in a U.K. shale project.
