Coal seam gas company Dart Energy Ltd. (DTE.AU) said Wednesday that it will acquire 22 onshore gas licenses in the U.K. from Greenpark Energy Ltd. for A$42 million.

Dart said the assets have coal seam gas and shale gas potential. The Australian company has also secured an option over unconventional gas licenses held by Greenpark in Poland and Spain.

The acquisition will be funded by cash and shares, Dart said in a statement, and comes after Dart last week agreed to buy out joint venture partner BG Group PLC (BG.LN) from 14 coal seam gas licenses in the U.K.
