Guidance Software Inc. (NASDAQ:GUID), the World Leader in
Digital Investigations™, said attendees to its 12th Annual Computer
and Enterprise Investigations Conference (CEIC) in May responded
that cloud computing, advanced persistent threats (APTs) and bring
your own device (BYOD) policies are among the key issues that they
are facing in their organizations.
As part of the post-conference survey, when asked what impact
the cloud would have on their organization’s e-discovery processes,
54 percent of the survey respondents said they expected it would
result in more complicated data collections. Attendees were also
surveyed on their biggest cyber security concern, with 45 percent
sharing that it is APTs, followed by 30 percent for insider threats
and 25 percent for the length of time it takes to resolve
attacks.
Attendees were also asked about the hot topic of BYOD and how it
has impacted their organizations. 78 percent shared that their
organization has allowed employees to bring their own devices,
while only 22 percent have allowed no outside devices.
“As this survey shows, the computing infrastructure evolution to
the cloud and to mobile devices produces new digital investigation
challenges,” said Victor Limongelli, president and CEO of Guidance
Software. “Guidance EnCase provides a complete solution to all
these challenges, with a powerful platform for all types of digital
investigations, across on-premise, cloud and mobile devices and
data sources.”
CEIC is the leading conference for digital investigations, which
is one of the hottest growing industries right now, with the Bureau
of Labor Statistics reporting that the number of new jobs in these
fields is expected to rise by 19 percent per year until the end of
the decade. This growth was evident at CEIC 2012, with 118 sessions
across 11 tracks with presentations and labs in Forensics,
Cybersecurity and E-Discovery, as well as the inaugural Guidance
CISO Summit.
