SNC-Lavalin Partnership Secures Fusion Engineering Support Contract in U.S.

SNC-Lavalin Group and its partners have been awarded an
engineering support services contract by the U.S. Department of
Energy's Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.
The Canadian company, which has rebranded and is in the process
of changing its name to AtkinsRealis, said the indefinite delivery,
indefinite quantity contract has a base period of three years and
two optional years and a ceiling value of $50 million.
Along with its partners Jacobs Technology and Longenecker and
Associates, it will support the design of future upgrades to the
primary fusion experiment and user facility called the National
Spherical Torus Experiment-Upgrade.
The partners will also deliver design and fabrication support of
plasma diagnostic and heating sub-systems for ITER, the
international fusion facility being constructed in France.
Lastly, they will also provide conceptual designs of
electricity-generating fusion plants and development of physics and
technology advances that can improve their economics.
