GE Healthcare said Friday it is buying a Swedish start-up that focuses on photon counting detectors.

General Electric Co.'s healthcare business didn't disclose financial terms of the deal agreement to buy the company, called Prismatic Sensors AB. It already owns a minority stake in the firm. GE Healthcare said it expects the deal to close by January.
