Phillips 66 (PSX) reported the flaring of gases over the weekend at its refinery in the Los Angeles area.

"Refinery has exceeded the reportable quantity of sulfur dioxide," it said in a filing with the California Emergency Management Agency, noting the emissions began Saturday afternoon. "The incident resulted in a flaring event."

Phillips has two refinery facilities in the Los Angeles area, one in Carson and the other nearby in Wilmington, that together have a crude capacity of 139,000 barrels a day, according to its website. The flaring incident happened at the Wilmington facility.
