Amazon.com Inc. on Wednesday said it is expanding its
renewable-energy portfolio with 2.7 gigawatts of clean-energy
capacity across 71 new projects around the world.
The Seattle online retail giant said the work includes a solar
farm in Brazil, marking its first renewable-energy project in South
America, as well as its first solar farms in India and Poland.
Amazon said it now has 379 renewable-energy projects across 21
countries, representing 18.5 gigawatts of capacity, adding that its
portfolio, when fully operational, will generate the equivalent
amount of electricity needed to power 4.6 million U.S. homes a
year.
Amazon, which had reached 85% renewable energy across its
business by the end of last year, said it is on a path to reach
100% by 2025.
