TotalEnergies said Thursday that it has partnered with aerospace and industrial conglomerate Honeywell International Inc. to advance plastic recycling as part of its goal to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.

As part of the agreement, TotalEnergies will produce a virgin-quality plastic feedstock from recycled materials at a plant in Spain that is expected to begin operating next year.

The plant, owned by Honeywell and Spanish infrastructure operator Sacyr SA, will recycle 30,000 tons of mixed plastic waste a year, the companies said.

TotalEnergies said it will use the recycled plastic at its production units in Europe to meet its target of producing 30% recycled and renewable polymers by 2030.
