Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE, TAIEX: 2311, NYSE: ASX), the leading provider of semiconductor assembly and test services, today announced that its Kaohsiung facility in Taiwan has achieved ISO 28000:2007 certification through SGS, a globally acclaimed accreditation organization. The ISO 28000:2007 standard sets the framework for a security management system that enhances the security of the supply chain, transportation and logistics systems. ISO 28000 accreditation demonstrates that a company has put in place robust processes that are compliant with the international standards for security management. Four of ASE Kaohsiung’s factories; K7, K8, K10 and K15 were duly certified in September this year.

ASE serves over 400 customers worldwide, including many top tier semiconductor customers that design leading edge products. Customers expect not only quality and service from ASE in IC assembly and test manufacturing, but also assurances in the security of handling and transporting their products from end-to-end. Since March 2016, ASE has taken steps to incorporate best practices in logistics and transportation security as part of its business continuity management. Assessment and compliance with the ISO 28000:2007 standards help ASE develop resilience within the supply chain.

“ASE Kaohsiung’s ISO 28000 accreditation underscores ASE’s continuous pursuit to be a world class outsourced assembly and test service provider and a company that adheres to established global standards covering quality and security management,” said KC Chou, Senior VP, ASE Kaohsiung. “Customers and our major stakeholders are further assured of our company’s commitment to improve the security of the supply chain as well as raise the credibility of the ASE brand,” he added.

Managing businesses in a global environment has become more complex in the twenty-first century, and companies face more risks and uncertainty from natural disasters, terrorism, theft, and cyber threats that can destabilize and disrupt the supply chain. Besides the ISO 28000 accreditation, ASE also achieved certification for ISO 15408-EAL6 Common Criteria in November 2015. The ISO 15408-EAL6 provides ASE’s customers and employees with an added level of security from any theft of physical or intellectual property. To ensure minimal impact and loss from any external factors, ASE invests in resources to develop more secure, sustainable and resilient forms of management processes and continues to benchmark its practices with internationally acclaimed standards.
