'UNBELIEVABLE AND SCARY': Lithium-ion battery from vape pen sparks house fire in Lake Worth

Marc Theaman was working in his office at a house they were renting in Lake Worth on Monday at about noon when the patio suddenly caught fire.

Theaman quickly ran downstairs and panicked when he saw flames and heavy smoke coming from the backyard into the dining area.
Ogilbee was told by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue officials that a vape pen’s lithium-ion batteries sparked the flames.

WPTV reported in November that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was warning about a rise in lithium-ion battery fires.

“Just a small device could cause this type of damage, which is unbelievable and scary,” stated Ogilbee.

There are more small devices than large devices, maybe even more than phones, so they will be more common. Still, this can happen to any device with lithium batteries in them from vapes, cellphones, laptops, E-bikes, EVs/hybrids, to battery storage facilities.

In this dissertation, they found that external magnetic fields significantly increased charge and discharge rates in individual lithium battery cells; like shown in the following image. They also found that smaller batteries were impacted to a greater degree than larger ones. This is likely a reason Tesla is switching to larger battery cells in addition to employing magnetic attenuating honeycomb sandwich battery pack.

So are smart phones, I'm keeping my land line as backup!
This is true, but the higher voltage and thus larger EM field of EVs make them more dangerous than cellphones and more likely to spontaneously combust due to things like dendrite buildup.

Check out the growing list of major airliners experiencing malfunctions since the end of 2024. EM radiation is causing technical glitches and malfunctions all over the place.

Fire breaks out in Tesla battery storage facility in Tilburg

A fire broke out Saturday at a Tesla battery storage facility in Tilburg, according to local authorities. The fire, which involved smoldering batteries, was quickly brought under control by the fire department.

Crews moved the batteries outside and placed them in a water-filled container, known as a "dunk tank," to cool them down. The fire was contained within an hour.

The fire occurred in a storage warehouse located on Asteriastraat in the Vossenberg industrial area. The building was evacuated, and the 50 employees inside were safely accounted for, with no injuries reported. The warehouse's sprinkler system helped prevent the fire from spreading further within the building.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.

I had from early on  2007 (right after the first iPhone release) all the way through the first trillion made. Sold once during that time right after Jobs death and then re-purchased under Tim Cook and sold after the first trillion. Wish I hadn't! However, everything from Apple then went into Microsoft at that time and no need to tell you how well that went for me. 😃

Yeah, this pump! The world's most valuable company market cap soon to be 4 trillion… Yep, this pump will certainly crash.

Might as well crash right through previous stock, splits, and bring this right down to sub pennies!!🤣🤣

5 injured after lithium fire breaks out at L3Harris aerospace facility in Orlando

Five people were injured Thursday morning in Orlando after lithium powder caused a fire to break out at an L3Harris aerospace facility, fire officials announced.

According to Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar, the call to the 7600 block of Municipal Drive came in around 8:20 a.m. and prompted several Orlando Fire Department crews to respond, including hazmat, arson and bomb crews.

The fire broke out inside Aerojet Rocketdyne, a company that designs and produces sophisticated ballistic missile targets and undersea propulsion technology.

Assistant Orlando Fire Chief Walter Lewis said the response to the fire was large because of its severity. The lithium ignition is toxic and cannot be suppressed using water, Lewis explained.
Funny thing here is this wasnt even a battery that spontaneously combusted, but lithium powder. The article doesnt indicate whether or not the lithium powder was pure lithium or had anything added to it. So what caused the powder to catch fire? Hutchison Effect since Lithium is a metal? Even the powder is susceptible to spontaneously combusting making it dangerous and toxic it seems.

A Cambridge, Ont. mother was left shaken after her 11-year-old’s cellphone suddenly caught fire in a movie theatre.

No one was hurt but she worries that it could have been a lot worse.

On Monday, Madara Mejoule was waiting for her son and his friend outside the theatre. Wondering why they were taking so long, she went inside to get him. She was shocked by what she saw.

“The whole movie theater was filled with smoke and you could smell there was like a toxic gas smell,” Mejoule recalled.

Her son ran up to her and told her his phone had caught fire.

At first, she was skeptical.

“I didn't believe that a phone could explode spontaneously,” Mejoule admitted.

How does EMF cause lithium batteries to experience thermal runaway and thus spontaneously combust? One of two main ways:

#1 - Overcharge/Discharge

With various impressed external magnetic field intensities an effect was noticed on the charge and discharge curves as well as the charge and mass concentrations within the batteries. With the two-dimensional model starting from 0mT and going to 1mT had the effect of discharging the battery faster and charging the battery faster. With the two-dimensional model starting from 1mT and going to -1mT had the effect of charging the battery faster. In either case an effect on the various characteristics of the battery were studied. With the experiments conducted on the two types of batteries the effect was more profound than subtle. Discharge times were twice as fast and charge times were equally
affected. With the smaller batteries they all generally charged faster under the presence of a magnetic field due to more uniform penetration. In the presence of the field they also discharged faster. The larger batteries would not see the same uniform penetration because only a small area of the battery sees the center of the coil it is placed on

In this dissertation, they found that external magnetic fields significantly increased charge and discharge rates in individual lithium battery cells; like shown in the following image. They also found that smaller batteries were impacted to a greater degree than larger ones. This is likely a reason Tesla is switching to larger battery cells in addition to employing magnetic attenuating honeycomb sandwich battery pack.

#2 - Stimulation of Dendrite Growth

Thermoelectric current causes asymmetric growth pattern of dendrites.
thermoelectromagnetic convection occurs in the vicinity of the solid-liquid interface, and vortices are generated between dendritic arms. It is shown that the thermoelectromagnetic convection has a major influence on dendritic morphology.
